This is a unique opportunity for you to spend the day like a local photographer with a local photographer
We’ll walk, we’ll use public transit, we’ll rush to see some locations and spend quality time creating photographs in others. You’ll hear Chicago stories, some personal anecdotes and learn about Chicago’s history and levels. We’ll stop for a meal break and, depending on time of day, a local coffee or snack break (food/drink not included in price).
If you’d like either sunrise or sunset, indicate this in the Build Your Tour questionnaire responses. This will be used as the start or end anchor to build your tour route around
NOTE: This tour will have periodic “pause breaks” built in through the day. When possible, locations will be photogenic so you may continue taking photos if you’re not in need of the break
START / END LOCATIONS: Tour start / end locations are not the same location. Not to worry, we either end somewhere not far from where we began (or your hotel) depending on your plans and comfort level.

Note: Urban Nature, One Focus, Half Day and Total Immersion Tours are all private and custom. You (and your guests, if applicable) will be the only one on your tour

Consider booking a tour of one of Chicago’s neighborhoods or surrounding downtown areas during these major city events:
- July 4-8, 2024 – July 4th Celebrations and NASCAR — TTAL will not operate in Millennium Park, Grant, Chicago Loop, Transit (where possible)
- July 28-August 5, 2024 – Lollapalooza — TTAL will not operate in Chicago South Loop, Millennium Park/“The Bean”, Grant Park/Buckingham Fountain, limited Museum Campus access
- August 19-22, 2024 – Democratic National Convention — This is being held on the Near West Side and not expected to affect traversing the core downtown but may affect some transportation availability. Anticipate protests at various government locations
TIP #1: This is a walking photography tour, not a technical “Fundamentals of Photography” workshop. To benefit you the most it is advised you understand the basics of photography such as ISO, aperture, shutter speed and other settings on your camera prior to your tour. This is a perfect opportunity to put those lessons to practice in an urban setting.
TIP #2: If you’re a light chaser, check HERE for sunrise, sunset and Blue Hour times before deciding your start time. Select your travel month. The dates are along the left side of the chart. On this site, Blue Hour would be considered the “Civil Twilight” Start or End.
