The ALLEYS OF CHICAGO Photo Tours are back in 2020 by popular demand!
NOTE: Be sure to check the scheduled days below BEFORE booking. You will need to choose the correct day when selecting date.
The Chicago Loop is the centralized district of the city with fascinating historic identities. It’s presently home to tourist spots, the theater district, government, financial district and the famed Loop ‘L’ train. South Loop has once again become a vibrant and eclectic side of the Loop, no longer patronized solely by students of the City Colleges of Chicago. Today, it’s booming with new skyscrapers, stores and restaurants, historic hotels, nighttime entertainment and much more.
Not every city has alleys and many that do would not or should not be walked through. Chicago’s alleys are an entirely different world and a part of the city many take for granted.
We will explore the gems of the South Loop’s alleys capturing international and local street art murals and urban train scenes. It’s all about color and motion. If you have specific lenses, your favorite wide and telephoto lenses will receive a workout.
NOTICE: There are a few spots along the route that will be loud with the train. If you’re sensitive to loud noises, please bring earplugs or whatever you need to be comfortable during those brief stops.

Always Awesome! - This was my second tour with Teresa and like the first tour, it was an excellent experience. We spent 2 1/2 hours photographing the alleys, fire escapes and street art of Chicago’s south loop. Teresa presented numerous photo opportunities and waited patiently for just the right urban scene to unfold. Her knowledge of the area, both in terms of photo opportunities and the history of the street art we saw was impressive. We learned a lot about the artists and the south loop during our tour. I highly recommend Teresa and Tour through the Lens - you’ll get great photo opportunities and learn about Chicago. It’s win win!
My wife gave me a gift certificate for a photo tour with Teresa and it was wonderful. I'm a trained photographer and usually have my camera out when I'm commuting to work in the Loop every day. That said, Teresa took the time to show me some areas I don't normally see and, in my haste to get to and from work, don't really *see*. Beautiful architecture, old architecture, hidden art, all of which combine to part of the story of Chicago. I shot only film and it was a lot of fun to slow down, see the area we were in, and think about how I wanted to document it all the while with Teresa telling me about wherever we were. I highly recommend taking a tour. She was very knowledgeable of the area, engaging, funny, and friendly.
I've lived in the Chicago area most of my life and I'm a serious amateur photographer. I've spent a lot of time photographing the loop, but I don't really feel like I did it justice until I took Teresa's tour. She's super-knowledgeable about the places we visited and can tell great stories about the art and architecture. She's also a very accomplished photographer, and taught me a few new tricks! Her tours are always fun - you'll really enjoy the trip. Teresa also focuses very much on personal safety on her tours. The destinations we hit were safe and open places, and she shared her "street smarts" on how to protect yourself in a new city. Awesome tour, 10/10 would totally do it again!
A great experience! I can fully recommend this tour. I participated in the North loop tour last November, and now in August I did the South loop tour. The guide is very knowledgeable. She tells you historic facts and points out the best spots for taking photos. We did lots of L- train photos, visited interesting hotel lobbies, and saw many murals. I thoroughly enjoyed my time. Do this tour (and the north loop too), you won't regret it!
